WHERE: Hollywood and Vine (on Vine in the W hotel and next to TJs)
WHEN: Dinner. We went prime day (Friday), prime time (8:30PM) and well…it was not packed to say the least.
WHAT TO ORDER: The Seared Rare Ahi Tuna ($24) was cooked close to perfection and a hefty portion for the hefty price tag. Also, the ginger ahi tuna crisps ($10) were the perfect app.
WHAT TO SKIP: The salmon crudo ($12) was reallllll fishy.
WHAT TO KNOW: The online menu offers lettuce cups (that looked real good and we were so excited for) but they were nowhere to be found on the actual in-house menu. Tear. Also, the red walls and disco balls give EVERYTHING a red tint. So prepared to barely be able to make out your food (thank god for camera flashes).
EDDR GETS NERDY: Macau is a small peninsula in mainland China that reflects a mix of Portuguese and Chinese influences. Since that probably means nothing to you, just know Macau is nicknamed the “Las Vegas of Asia”. Now it may mean something to some of you. EDDR is not just here for you when you’re hungry: http://www.gamblersanonymous.org/ga/
WHO YOU’LL SEE: No one as of now — but it’s still new to the scene (which scene that may be however, is still TBD). Hopefully it will pick up for the investors sake. And also for the area’s sake bc the last restaurant that opened in that spot was DOA (dead on arrival) as well. Fingers crossed.
WHO TO BRING: No one until it picks up a bit and the overall crowd/scene/vibe is determined. The last thing you want to do is bring the wrong type of date here. If someone took us here…well we would have a lot of questions…like what were you thinking and can you please lose our number. #truthhurts but we #keepitreal. WHAT TO WEAR: The interior decor looks like a Vegas nightclub and the vibe could not scream Hollywood Blvd anymore (the trashy part, not the cool unknown places that you only go to during the week and are a guaranteed celeb sighting spot). If there was ever a time to pull out those trashy hooker heels you bought, wore once and immediately regretted (we’ve all made bad purchases on occasion)… this is the time and place to get one last use out of them. Just make sure to leave them on the street for the next skank.
EDDR LIFE LESSON: If you’re going to read restaurant reviews: READ OUR SHIT. We wish we would have read a honest review on this spot before we planned our Friday night here. We give it to you straight so jump on the bandwagon already …
A2 FINAL THOUGHT: Geisha House and Katsuya had their moments… 10 years ago… House of Macau might not be so lucky. The only reason anyone should be going to Hollywood and Vine is for the Pantages or Cleo…or to get your grocery shopping done at TJs. We would like to say we’ll go back once it gets more established and report on more… but then we would be lying to you. We can’t deny they really tried with the service; so shout-out to the service and THE END
Probably still the only ones who have tried the restaurant,
