THE BASICS:
WHAT: The Los Angeles Times presents The Taste.
WHEN: Summatime over Labor Day weekend when there is less worktime and more playtime.
WHERE: Paramount Pictures Studios backlot making us feel all celebrity and shit.
THE DISH:
A FULL weekend of events featuring the BEST in the LA food & drink scene. Unlimited bites, unlimited sips, cooking and mixology demonstrations, wine seminars and panel discussions from some serious foodie influencers filled up the 3-day (and night) epicurean adventure. You can buy a single ticket to a particular event or a weekend pass (FYI they sell out fast) – the decision is up to you and how much you can eat? We couldn’t hit them all up, but ALL day/night Saturday we feasted BIG time – like we should still be full…
LET US BREAK IT DOWN FOR YOU:
- Friday- OPENING NIGHT– $125- the most intimate event to get the party started.
- Saturday day- FIELD TO FORK– $100-$125
- Saturday night- DINNER WITH A TWIST– $100-$125
- Sunday day- SUNDAY BLOCK PARTY– $100-$125
- Sunday night- FLAVORS OF LA– $100-$125
It’s set up like most “happenings” with station after station but what makes this event so unique and special is the location and participants. Because you are on the studio backlot it feels like you are walking the streets of NYC; totally transported. And not sure how they do it, but it seems like they have every single worthwhile LA restaurant there at some point over the weekend. We are not going to mention them all, because there are 100’s, so just look here and find your FAVS.
WHAT TO WEAR: Comfy shoes, flowy clothing, the usual. The day is pretty casual, while the night you can take it up a notch.
WHO TO BRING: Someone you are not afraid to look like a pig in front of. Or someone who loves cooking and trying new things, because the demos are fun and educational. Anyone who’s down to chowdown.
HOW TO DO IT: First decide if you want day or night, then look up the line-up/schedule when it’s released and pick the one that you like BEST. We know it will be hard, but you can do it; we believe in you.
EDDR LIFE LESSON: Find your passion and go with it! This event was special to us because it brought together two of our main passions: food and film/tv. It was fun to be doing what we love (eating & drinking of course) at one of our favorite places.
A2 FINAL THOUGHT: From the moment you drive into this event it’s an experience. It’s expertly planned and executed and one that is really worth the steep price. Do you really need to go to more than one? If you’re like us, WHY not; more food, more memories, more happiness. If you’re just looking for something fun and different? One event is the perfect fix.
Thanks for the memories and making our skinny jeans extra tight,
A2
