THE BASICS:

WHAT:  Blue Plate Oysterette – West Hollywood Location

WHERE:  3rd St. @ Crescent Heights – Weho status

WHEN:  Lunch and Dinner, 7 days a week.

THE DISH:

WHAT TO ORDER: We took advantage of the Clambake ($50 for 2 — see below) and while it was dee-lish, it definitely wasn’t enough food for 2. Sooooo, we added on some extras – go figure. The caesar salad ($10) was a solid caesar — nothing mind blowing but at a mere 10 bucks, definitely worth it to start the meal. They ever so graciously sent out the tuna tartare and while we’re always down for some free food, we happily would’ve paid the $15 for this as it was biz-omb. We capped our Sunday night with some key lime pie. Guys. Neither member of A squared are key lime lovers but this is what they’re known for so we took one for the team. We are officially converted to #limelovers. “We’ll only have a bite” we said. “Just to taste” we said. A devoured key lime pie later, don’t you dare leave your meal at blue plate without this $9 delight.

WHAT TO SKIP: We’ll let you know when we figure it out.

WHAT TO KNOW:  On Sundays in the Summer, they do a Sunday Supper. You have the choice of a $50/person prix fixe menu with 4 courses including oysters, lobster and dessert AND a $50/serves two Clambake including lobster, mussels, clams…(they still offer the standard menu as well). Just as importantly, OYSTER HOUR is M-F from 4pm-6pm (if you’re going at these times you def don’t have a job so good thing you can take advantage because oystees are spency). And you get $1 oysters and $6 sangria/wine. Does that count as a good excuse to leave work early? We think it does…

WHAT ELSE TO NOTE: The West Hollywood location is SO much better and more comfortable than the SM location. While the SM location is hot, claustrophobic, and lacking in any real décor, the Weho location makes up in all areas.

WHERE TO SIT:  Inside, the outside patio, the bar. Each area is just as cute as the next.

WHO TO GO WITH: The place isn’t cheap so go with someone who’ll pay. We kid, we kid (kindof). But honestly, you could take anyone and have a great time.

WHAT TO WEAR:  Considering this is on West 3rd., I would avoid lulu’s at dinner time but short of that, you’re pretty much good with whatever.

WHAT’S THE VIBE: It’s always a packed house. We’ve been there at 8:30PM on a Friday night and 6PM on a Sunday night and it’s been equally as fun and crowded.

WHO YOU’LL SEE: People who like seafood and a good time and ambiance.

EDDR LIFE LESSON: Sunday supper should be practiced and preached. Whether your “family” nearby is blood or chosen, Sunday is the perfect time to reflect on the week behind and look forward to week ahead… And the opportunity to get one more satisfying meal IN before weeks end!

A2 FINAL THOUGHT:  You don’t always have to go West for some fresh fish. We’ll see you soon BPO — and we can’t wait to see what your Fall specials have to offer.

Dishing on the Fish(ing),
