WHEN: Allll meals of the day, but this here is our brunch edition.
THE DISH:
WHAT TO ORDER: Salmon Millefeuille ($14) because it’s as delicious as it is beautiful. I’m not even a smoked salmon fan, but could not stop stealing bites, as the consistencies and flavors of smoky, sweet, flaky and crunchy were irresistible. Also, just about everything at the Patisserie (that’s French for bakery – we’re fancy here at EDDR) is delicious but the macaroons ($2.50/each) are a MUST. And the Bloody Mary ($13) was bomb.com… if it’s that kind of day.
WHAT TO SKIP: Honestly I have been a handful of times and you really can’t go wrong. I didn’t love the Mac & Cheese ($9), but I was the only one at the table to feel that way.
WHERE TO PARK: There are a ton of those confusing downtown lots nearby, or you can find a meter (good luck). There is valet available for dinner service only.
WHERE TO SIT: No reservations (anytime), so wherever they can accommodate your party. If you have a choice, opt for the cafe/bar area with a beau or friend and the dining room for a group or the fam. For weekend brunch expect a little wait, but with everything else in this big space to distract you, you won’t be bored (grab a snack to hold you over- no judgement).
WHO YOU’LL SEE: Angelinos of all walks and ages.
WHO TO BRING: Anyone and everyone. *Make note*: This was a PERFECT spot to bring my family in town- good food, fun vibe and they bought some goodies to take home (they are still raving about it).
WHAT TO THINK ABOUT BEFORE YOU GO: Do you have any birthdays, anniversaries, showers, or special events coming up? They have amazing gift sets/boxes and delectable sweets/cakes/pies. Sure to “awe” and make you the “thoughtful” one of the bunch. Make a list and stock up.
EDDR LIFE LESSON: Sometimes the best things in life are worth waiting for… after all, the anticipation is half the fun.
A2 FINAL THOUGHT: Whether it’s for brunch, dinner, an after-work cocktail, or a mid-day pick-me-up in the form of a coffee and macaroon, Bottega Louie should be on your radar. Some may say its old news, but there’s a reason it’s a classic. A downtown stop where you know exactly what to expect, never disappoints, and you can get a good meal while gift shopping… GEM. And we must mention how easy on the eyes it is too.
