THE BASICS:
WHAT: Jon & Vinny’s – a new Italian restaurant from the guys behind Animal, Son Of A Gun, Trois Mec…
WHERE: Fairfax District (you know that random little strip with all the Jewish deli’s, hipster clothing stores and cool coffee shops —  sooo LA)
WHEN: breakfast, lunch, and dinner — 7 days a week from 8AM – 10PM

THE DISH:

WHAT TO ORDER: Marinara Braised Meatballs ($15.25) are a must, but more importantly, the garlic bread that accompanies them is on another level. Like give us some more marinara with our balls so we can bathe the deliciously fluffy bread in it and make them last longer. We saw later (once we circled back to the menu after developing an unhealthy relationship with the aforementioned bread) that just the garlic bread is also avail ($5.25) – if you’re splurging on carbs (we all have cheat days), this is a MUST. Also, the burrata and white peach salad ($14.25), while not unique, is always a crowd pleaser and good way to balance out the carboload you’re about to endure. We didn’t order any pasta (we do have SOME boundaries), but hear it’s AH-Maze and would gladly swap OUT a pizza and IN some pasta on our next visit (keep you posted how that goes).

WHAT TO SKIP:  White Lightning Pizza ($17.25 – mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, onion, oregano, pickled jalapeño). For that price, this pizza was like your date that makes you pay for your valet: not impressive. (Note to the guys out there — while there’s no direct rule stating you need to pay for dinner AND valet…don’t be cheap. While you don’t score any points for doing it, you’ll definitely lose points for NOT doing it. No it’s not fair but hey, girls are supposed to be able to eat pasta and pizza and still look bangin’ in a bikini so you know, pick your battles)

WHAT TO KNOW: The place is small and bumpin’ so make a reservation….like now. If you’re looking for some heavy drinks, this is NOT your place as they solely serve Helen’s Wine (shoutout to Helen). Also, they do just as much business with take out orders so it’s perfect for those nights that you’re having a romantic date with Mr. Netflix but you’re trying to keep it a little classier than hanging with Papa John’s.

WHERE TO SIT: Honestly, anywhere you can get since there’s probably about 6 booths + the bar which seats about 12. We sat at the bar which was awesome because we could chat with the cooks and watch them make everything, but if you’re with more than 2 people, a table is probably easier so you can actually talk to the people you’re with…unless you’re not into that.

WHO YOU’LL SEE: Celebs, LA peeps in the know (like us of course), and followers of Jon & Vinny — can we be friends with them yet?

WHO TO BRING:  Date, friends, family — no matter who you bring, keep it to a comfortable group of 4 or a very tight-knit, squished group of 6.
EDDR LIFE LESSON:  Animal, Son of A Gun, Trois Mec, Petit Trois — small, intimate restaurants are clearly where it’s at in LA.

A2 FINAL THOUGHT:  While we weren’t sold on the pizza we ordered, this high class low key Italian spot is sure to become a new trendy go-to whether you’re eating in or taking out. We’ll definitely be back to give some of the other dishes a chance, inhale some more garlic bread, and hit up an Italian style breakfast (whatever that means).

Jon & Vinny — where you at? We’ve been following you all around LA–can we be friends yet,
