Croft Alley.

not any ordinary alley.

Want a quick bite in between a day of errands? Need a place to set-up shop and get some work done? Meeting someone for lunch? We have JUST the place for you: Croft Alley — a little bit of serenity with some bomb food in the middle of a bustling city.

Best Of: Rooftops.

Rooftopping is one of our most favorite pastimes (along with napping, shopping… and eating, of course).  Now that the temps are rising and the sun is shining long into the night, we see lots and lots of rooftop drinking in our near future.  Here is our BEST OF: ROOFTOPS edition. Serving up beautiful views all while giving you that summer glow (anywhere we can multitask is a good deal to us).

bdays @ Erwin.

1.  High Rooftop Lounge at Hotel Erwin [TIED: A2 top pick!]-  Venice Beach; we have spent countless days turned nights and celebrated too many b-days up in here.  It’s never that simple to get in/make a res but with a view like that it’s worth every minute of hassle. Just make sure to call ahead of time. Oh and the fact that you get to be on the Venice Boardwalk but above allllll the crazies is a bonus.

2.Sunset Cocktail Lounge at Palihouse [TIED: A2 top pick!]-  West Hollywood; this ‘top (yes we just abbreviated rooftop) became a staple in our summer seshes when it opened last year.  Yes the girls in skanky dresses that are guarding the elevator to get up always act like you “have” to be on a list or “need a res” even if it’s empty, but they usually end up letting you in anyway (enter fake smile here). Quaint, cute and with delish bites and drinks, just one request Palihouse:  Bring back the amazing cheese plate?!  Pretty please.

3.  Upstairs at the Ace Hotel–  Downtown; we just love everything about this place.  The crowd is pretty hipster, so throw on your thrift store swag and have your progressive political banter ready. Sorry we’re not sorry this place is pretty “mainstream” now.

4.  Perch–  Downtown; it’s just pretty.  And we love pretty places. But let’s be real, would people actually even eat here if they weren’t surrounded by the city lights?

5.  Altitude at the SLS Hotel–  Beverly Hills; this pool deck is open to the public during the week, so it’s the perfect spot to play hookie and catch some weekday rays without having to splurge on a room.  And FYI on the weekends it’s a scene with a DJ and older men trying to bribe younger girls with drugs and a dinner at The Bazaar later that night (may have been guilty of this once, minus the drugs part).  WARNING-  Alex once ordered a Mojito and after the pool-services charges and all the B.S. it was about $25 per drink, so it’s best to work what your mama gave you.

6.  The Private Rooftop at the Petit Ermitage–  West Hollywood; ok so we have never been cool enough to hit this place up. But after stalking the insta and reading alll about it, we just know it would make the list.  I mean their rooftop garden is recognized as a hummingbird and butterfly sanctuary!  Can anyone help some sistas out with a hookup?  Help us we’re poor.

Don’t forget your sunnies and sunscreen (stay safe people) and we’ll see you high up soon.  We’ll be the girls 5 bottles of Rosé deep. Not in the basic way — we only drink the pink shit that comes from the South of France.

Tanned & Tipsy,

Get Out Of Town: Cabo.

ready for the roe.

Summer’s here and it’s time to take a vacation. While you might think you’re too old for El Squid Roe, I’ve got news for you…you are. Regardless, you should plan a trip to Cabo stat and book yourself dinner at the most amazing Edith’s Restaurant. You can lie to yourself and act like you won’t end up at the Roe, but after some fresh seafood, a few rounds of tequila shots, and lots of mariachi serenading, I can’t make any promises. Oh, and shoutout to Dax for his bday celebration which brought us to Cabo and Madison for knowing what’s up and bringing us to Edith!

HBD Dax.

Best Of: PYOP {Pack Your Own Picnic}

The sun is out and the crop tops & short-shorts are coming out of the closet (although they never really left but you get what we’re trying to say).  SUMMER in LA is here… and this means your weekends will be filled with days spent at Malibu vineyards and nights spent anywhere you can be outside (Hollywood Bowl, Santa Monica Pier concerts, and/or any outdoor movie screening — Hollywood Forever Cemetery is our fav).  Gotta love this city.  And because these are all PYOP (pack your own picnic – duh) and/or BYOB (if you don’t know what this means we’re not friends), here is our list of the BEST places to get the yummiest goods (and dranks too, of course) for the most perfect spreads…

bottles @ stir market.

bottles @ stir market.

1.  Joan’s On Third (A2 top pick!)- West Hollywood; a pretty version of anything you could ever want. Salads, sammies, sweets, sides, drinks…they have it all.

2.  Stir Market–  West Hollywood; a slightly different version of the above. Their packaged deli salads are to-die.

3.  The Oaks Gourmet–  Hollywood; Whether you want a sandwich or some fresh bread, cheese, and wine, they’ve got it going on.

4.  Olive & Thyme–  Toluca Lake; We wouldn’t go all the way here if you’re not gonna be in the area, but it’s a great option if you’re night takes you over the hill.

5.  Food LabWeHo; this place is a one and done. You choose a salad, main course, drink, and sweet and they package it all up for you in a little box. And it’s surprisingly big portions of all.

6. Bay CitiesSM; I mean enough said. If you don’t know Bay Cities you have bigger issues than where to PYOP from.

7. ClementineCentury City; great deli case salads with such a big variety.

8. Mud Hen TavernHollywood; for $28 you get a 6pack picnic box including ALL of this: Chili & Cornbread, pasta & arugala salad, Watermelon Salad, Cheesepuffs, Banana Bread Twinkie, and a choice of 1 of 5 Main Course Options. It’s pretty much Susan Feniger to go and we’re down with that.

9. Mendocino Farmsvarious locations; sometimes you just want a quick but delicious sandwich with no frills and this place has your back. Check out their monthly specials.

10. TJ’s– YES as in Trader Joe’s (NOT south of the border- ahhhh good times we barely remember). If you want to make it easy breezy, assemble a spread with all of your favorite things but none of the “filler” items, and spend the least amount of $$, there is always good ole’ TJ’s. Not gonna lie, we’re pretty tight these days.

See you there (and make sure to come say hiiii),
